As eAdventist has gained new options and features, the number of buttons has grown. To “de-clutter” eAdventist, the design team combined the long rows of buttons into a single drop-down listbox with a “Go” button beside it. This looked much cleaner but made it challenging for people to find features — even experienced eAdventist users
To end the “Hide and Seek”, we’ve brought the buttons back with a new, “clean” design that avoids the previous clutter.
After – replaces “Request Transfer to Offsystem” button
Enjoy the new low-clutter buttons.
The covers are finally off! You can now test drive the new eAdventist at beta.eadventist.net. Feel free to push the limits since the “beta” is hermetically sealed and will not harm your “live” data in any way.
The design team at Stimme der Hoffnung (“Voice of Hope”) in Germany is gaining a reputation for their creative work. Not too surprising, since “German engineering” is practically synonymous with great design. We asked them to help us create a fresh, new look for eAdventist. They delivered and the new design will be ready for you to test drive in just a few more days.
But that seems like so long to wait so we decided to give you a sneak peek. Enjoy!
Increasingly, conference clerks find email much more effective for processing international transfers than snail mail. To help you take advantage of this, your email address is now included with your address, fax and phone on each transfer that you print. Note that this email, phone and fax information comes from the “Contact email”, “Contact phone” and “Contact fax” settings for your conference.
Until now, Notes for a person had to fit into a single field with a 500-character limit. Clerks and pastors can now create multiple Notes (no limit on size) with “happened on” dates. All existing Notes have been converted to a new Note with “date unknown”.
To create a Note, just click on the “Add a note” link.
As you enter the new Note, you have the option to choose the “Happened on” date.
Saved Notes display with the most recent at the top.
Right now, the “Who can see this?” drop-down only offers “Everyone”. This is how the Notes field has always worked. In the near future, options will be added to allow pastors and clerks to add private notes.
We just added “Tooltips for Officers” yesterday and the response has been great. However, several clerks asked if it could include the officer’s phone and email, too. Great idea! The extra information was getting unwieldy for a Tooltip and making the page load slower, so it has been changed it to an “Info” icon that opens an alert window — easier to read and faster page loads.
So the Tooltips have become “QuickInfo for Officers”. As always, thank you for your ideas and feedback.
Ever have to enter a bunch of transfers involving the same family or church? You are going to like the new “Repeat” button.
Enter the first transfer request as usual. When you click “Request transfer” (or “Request transfer to Offsystem”) to enter the next request, eAdventist will “remember” the churches and last name from your last request. Click the “Repeat” button to instantly select them again.
In case you’re wondering, eAdventist “remembers” your last transfer request by storing this information in a “cookie” — a small file on your computer that is deleted when you close your browser.
